Retreats  &  Spas

Cabbiolo, Arte Centre, Retreat

While you all were soaking up the Aftermath of the coronation of King Charles. I went on a journey of discovery, into the mountains of Switzerland, with the delights of a retreat bordering on the edges of Italy, and over the mountains was Lake Como.

Somewhere new, somewhere beautiful. Cabbiolo, a retreat, very much Italian speaking, the views and the beauty and stillness of the mountains. This was a vegatarian place, and the breakfast was much like you get in a hotel, except it isn't bacon, sausage or any other delights that are the normal food.

A beautiful place, situated within the valley of two mountinous regions. It had a calming influence, and the food, was surprisingly good, I am a great believer in healthy food and meat is part of that. Cheese seems to be the subsitute to meat here. I love cheese, but the heart doctors do not necessarily feel the same way about cheese.
You have to be very inventive with vegetarian food, it either is full of onions and garlic to make some kind of taste, or it's thought through in an inventive way that it is very tasteful without being over powered by other tastes. I like to taste natural food, and that includes meat.

The evening meal had different variations of food, and chef's as part of the course.  I noticed the difference between the chef's. And, yes they went out of their way to please, and make a meal that was tasty. Not Michelin star, but definitely good home cooked food.

The room was basic, I had a large shower. If you wanted drink, hot or cold that was extra, is it part of the course, well yes. It was an expensive journey to explore the retreat situation. And the yoga, I have changed a few positions to my daily routine now, but yet again I had to experience the insecure, jealous women and a judge, with their play game, and they were Swiss German. Get a life ladies, and the judge as you sure do need one.

Breakfast, I love with a passion, as you can diversify as much as you want to. You won't lose. You can make it an interesting taste, or the same old taste, as most people do. Be inventive and experiment as it is good for the soul. And will most certainly put a smile on your face, and mentally will allow you to enjoy your day.

This was very simple, but very interesting. Whatever was served for dinner sometimes used to be an addition for breakfast. And always fresh. There was no disputing that. I did enjoy the food, except for the tofu, it was the texture that didn't sit well with me, but the chef was really chatty and pleasant. Thank you, from the English lady, Mr Chef.
